Valentine's Day
Rough night. Up at 2 a.m. with a hard headache. Two Tylenol and 1 hour later back to bed in the guest room. This is how I define worry.
Today's photo looks like a close-up of an eye, but it's really more than that. Take a look at the large version, here:

I thought is was pretty cool.

Three Weeks and 2 days later...
Bad news. When I mentioned my symptoms to the neurosurgeon this morning, he immediately sent me to have a CT Scan of the brain. My luck being what it is, it shows fluid in the front portion of my cranium. This set me up for another CT, next Friday. If the fluid has increased, it's back to the OR for me. Words cannot express how this worries me.
It is what it is, so I wait.

Three Weeks and 1 day later...
It's been quite a roller coaster ride, these past 3 weeks. I had originally thought all the down time was due to the Dilantin that I was taking q8h at 6 a.m., 2 p.m., and 10 p.m. But maybe not. I've been taking all 3 doses at once (9 p.m.) and the afternoon woozies still persist. Dilantin has something like a 16 hour half life.
More to the point of this post, the roller coaster ride is one good day followed by one not so good (sometimes just plain bad) day. Awake every morning at about 5:30 with a frontal headache. Interestingly, the headache seems to go away by itself once I'm up and around.
So, no new photos, today. Maybe later, especially if it snows on Friday.

Recap
On 20 January 2010, I had surgery to repair two subdural hematomas. This was not an emergency surgery, but rather the result of two slow bleeds. I got to spend the night in the surgical ICU on Wednesday night, moved to a private room on Thursday and discharged from the hospital on Friday. As I write this, it is three weeks out and the recovery is slow. It is far slower than I imagined. I feel as though I went into the hospital feeling like a 40 year old and came out as an 80 year old. I'll be really happy when I get back to 61.
It has been too long
It was a good start, but I failed to carry thorough. This time I plan to stay on top of things and add new content on a regular basis. We will just have to wait and see how well this goes.
